Abstract:

The Burns Registry of Australia and New Zealand (BRANZ) is one of ANZBA’s most significant initiatives.
Now in its 12th year, it is established as a collaboration between the Australian and New Zealand Burn Association (ANZBA) and Monash University’s Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine (DEPM).
The BRANZ is a repository for clinical data from all specialist burns units in Australia and New Zealand, and the information obtained about patients, types of injury, quality of care and outcomes is used to support burns clinicians in prevention, education, research and quality improvement.
As the registry matures, we can use registry data along with targeted and structured quality improvement and clinical education tools, to implement projects that will improve care for our patients. We present examples of recent achievements and highlight opportunities to be involved in activities to further develop burn care in our two countries.
